Melody and I were feeling bored today, so we decided to take a break from working on the Christmas surprise to play dress up for a while—and Kirsten promptly caught us on film! Here are some of our favorite shots.
Lisette in the Coppery Delights dress
Of course, we had to wear long dresses! Short dresses are wonderful for everyday wear, but for playing dress-up there is really no substitute for long skirts.
Melody in the Wintry Meadows dress
I really love the lighting in these pictures. It’s not the greatest for showing detail, but it makes Melody and I look like fairy princesses! Thanks Kirsten!
Anyway, enjoy the pictures everybody, and we’ll talk to you soon!
Look at this beautiful shoe!
I found it on Vintage Textile (www.vintagetextile.com), a wonderful online site filled with vintage clothes and accessories. They have so many fabulous things! Here are a few pictures from their website (click on each picture to take you to its page).
I was so thrilled to discover them! Their stuff is museum quality, and Melody and I just love looking around and being inspired!
Will you take a look at the embroidery on this spencer? It’s a real garment from the 1810s, and it just takes my breath away.
I can’t believe how much detail there is — first, the work is beautiful overall, and then the stitches look so tiny, regular and masterful!
Can you imagine how much time that must have taken? And it’s a real piece of history — someone really made it and wore it, long ago.
If only everything we did in life could be as thoughtful, careful, and truly beautiful!
In other news, we got a bit more done on the new Christmas line this weekend! It’s coming along, and we know it’s going to be fabulous…
PS—all photos are property of Vintage Textile. Just so everybody knows!
Hooray for winter!
Well, of course, it isn’t winter yet—not by any stretch of the imagination, and definitely not at the MVC studio, as the weather is only just starting to get really cold. But we like to think ahead, and these beautiful fall days make us think of Christmastime, and snow, and New Years’, hot chocolate, spiced cider, rosy cheeks… there are so many things we love about winter! And to celebrate this wonderful season,
we are going to have a small Christmas line this year!
We’re hoping to make it available for sale sometime in mid-November—that way you can enjoy our new surprises before, during, and after the magic of the holidays! We think they’ll be lovely… and hope you’ll think so too!
