New custom projects

Well, between boxing up orders for Christmas and planning the spring line, we’re working on not one but TWO custom orders! Exciting? Yes!  And they’re both really wonderful projects.

This is a photo of the first dress we’re working on. Isn’t it darling? And it’s going to a custom doll who will look just like the little girl in the picture.

The lady who ordered it asked for a floral print with a pink sash. It took some looking to find a floral print small enough, but here’s what we came up with: (Melody is modelling it so you can see the scale).

We haven’t bought the pink sash just yet, but that’s because we are planning a trip to a shop with a fabulous ribbon selection. We have a lot of ribbon still to buy, because…

Custom project #2

Inky, of the Inkiad, asked us to make her this costume! It’s worn every year by the little girls who dance in the New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker, and as you can see, there’s quite a bit of ribbon involved! We’ve found the perfect blue fabric for the top, and some wonderful fabric for the pants — but so far the ribbons have proved somewhat elusive.  Hence, the planned trip to the shop with the fabulous ribbon selection.

We’ve started on the patterning and mocking up for both of these projects, and will be sure to keep you all updated as they progress! I know I can’t wait until they’re done — they’re both going to be so terribly cute!

  1. I love the Nutcracker dress! It is so pretty! 😀 Custom dresses don’t exactly fit my budget, but I can just imagine how cool it would be to get one! 😀 I can’t wait to see how these turn out!
