Delphine

bold & contemporary

A while back, I found a brief tutorial on how to smock. I was fascinated by the texture it added to the fabric, and when I realized that Margot featured a smocked bodice, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try smocking a second piece for the collection.

Going off the colors already in the collection, I found a deliciously soft, dark purple knit for the tunic and a crisp, off-white twill for the jumper. Then, when I found some steel-gray vintage rayon seam binding, I knew it was the perfect material for the side lacing.

Of course, the jumper was going to need a lining — and what better color than spring green? I found some of my favorite cotton/silk blend sateen in just the right shade. Voilà!

Because this dress was going to be modern and a little bit funky, we made the tunic with extra-long raglan sleeves and a funnelneck. And up the back — my favorite part — a shiny silver fashion zipper, echoing the gray lacing on the jumper!

Delphine is modern, a little unusual, but undoubtedly girly — and we think you’ll love it even more than we do!
